Art 🎨 is transformative for sure! 😉

Santa Catarina Palopo: a formerly plain village on the shores of lake Atitlan (in southern Guatemala) at an altitude of 1,662 m…

2016 : an idealist journalist, Harris Whitbeck, invites two Dutch artists, Jeroen Koolhaas and Dre Urhahn (Haas and Hahn), and the Pintando Santa Catarina Palopó project begins…

The Guatemalan designer Diego Olivero collaborates with architects, designers, community leaders and residents to complete the planning process…

They use color palettes and designs based on  huipiles (the town’s traditional woven blouses) + environmentally friendly paint  that is  a modern take on an ancient local practice…

Ra ta ta!!!! 🎉🎆

A new (artisticly awesome and touristically attractive) village  has been born !!!

The project has been  running by tourists-volunteers as well, who, in turn for their contribution, receive discounts in hotels.
